flapjack octopus are a super cute species of the umbrella octopus. their defining trait is the squid-like flaps on their head!
theyve been called the flapjack octopus because they look link a pancake, the adorabilis because theyre super cute, and are scientifically know as the opisthoteuthis californiana!
their tentacles are webbed and make an umbrella shape when swimming, which is why theyre an umbrella octopus! theyre orange because when they arent illuminated, it gets so dark that the blues of the sea make them invisible!
